Eden Lakes - County Councillor Neil Hughes
Neil Hughes is the current county councillor for Eden Lakes which extends across Shap, Bolton, Askham and Glenridding [and all points in between]. He has stood for Parliament several times and works for an international charity at its Penrith retail outlet.
Neil has been a county councillor for almost eight years, previously serving on Eden district council for twelve. His interests especially include travel, caring for our beautiful Cumbrian environmental surroundings and health services. Between 2015 and 2017 he was chair of Cumbria's health scrutiny committee and currently represents Cumbria on Transport for the North's scrutiny body.
Neil has lived in Bampton near Shap for two decades.
