Penrith West, Prospective County Council Candidate Mark Rudhall

Mark Rudhall - PortraitMark plans to stand for the Penrith West Division in the Cumbria County Council elections in May 2021.

Mark and his wife Michelle moved up to Penrith from Liverpool in 2005 along with their two young children. Mark was then working for Legal & General as a Financial Consultant through the Northern Rock branches in Cumbria. When the financial crash happened, Mark decided to change direction in his career and with his passion being on the environment started to work for a company that gave advice on renewable energy technologies and energy saving measures.

In 2017, Mark stood for the Liberal Democrats in an Eden District Council by-election for Penrith North and won. Mark was re-elected as a District Councillor in May 2019 Mark and is the Portfolio Holder for Green Growth as well as being Chair of the Zero Carbon Members Working Group. The environment is one of the area's very important to Mark and as such, he is a member of the Green Liberal Democrats and Friends of the Earth.

Mark Rudhall - Beacon marchMark is a member of the Fairhill Community Group and was a founder member of "Friends of the Beacon" along with other Liberal Democrat councillors and the local community campaigned to save the Beacon and its woodland from development through the Penrith Masterplan.

Mark is now looking to serve the residents at a County Council level and has selected to stand in Penrith West, he is keen to make sure that the residents are listened too and their issues dealt with. During the current pandemic, it has become apparent that Penrith West has not had the best representation and the issues of residents and businesses ignored.

When he gets spare time, Mark & Michelle like to go out walking on the Fells and enjoy the Cumbrian countryside.
